The Porsche 911 GT1; built for one purpose only, to beat the McLaren F1 GTR. In charge of this project was Norbert Singer with strict instructions, make it as fast as possible but retain the 911 soul. In order to do this he essentially fussed a 993 front end to a 962 rear held together with a tubular frame that allowed both mid and rear engine positioning.
Their weapon of choice, a 3.2 letre water cooled flat-six churning out 592 hp with two KKK turbos.
Over the course of its career the GT1 racked up 34 poles and 47 victories and during the 24 Hr of LeMans weekend topped out at an incredible 205mph on the Mulsanne straight.
Ferrari F40 LM

The F40 was first released in 1987 and was only ever intended to be a high performance road car, however customers were quick to ask for a race spec version.
Ferrari turned to Michelotto Automobili, a long standing partner who had previously helped create the 512 BB LM and the 308 LM.
The LM debuted at Leguna Saca in 1989 were it came a respectable 3rd and went on the compete effectively well into the mid 90’s, racking up a handful of endurance wins along the way. It would ultimately be pulled out by Ferrari after the introduction of the McLaren F1 GTR.
Only 19 F40 LM’s were ever built.
McLaren F1 GTR

Just like the F40, the F1 was never intended for motorsport but once the customers and experienced the vehicle they quickly demanded Gordon Murray create a race spec for the fast approaching 1995 Endurance GT Series.
Amongst its domination and wins in its first season it ended up winning the 24 Hr LeMans on its first attempt, #51 driven by JJ Jehto, Yannick Dalmas and Masanori Sekiya. Solidifying its position as one of the most successful and iconic motor vehicles of all time.
This particular livery was the Harrods sponsored team ran by David Price, and in my eyes has to be one of the most recognisable livery’s of all time.
